Great, Heart-Warming Days

I BELIEVE we are seeing the first indication of a coming mighty revival in America, for certainly the iniquities of our land have all but separated our people from God. "When the enemy shall come in like a flood the spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him."

God is using chosen vessels throughout the country in comparatively small, but most encouraging ways, and truly revival sparks are flying. But among many others, God seems to have chosen Dr. William Graham, affectionately known as "Billy," to do an outstanding — even spectacular work — in starting revival fires, as attested in the recent campaigns in Los Angeles and Boston.

Billy Graham is a man after my own heart, for God's work. He can be trusted! He is a humble, prayerful, consecrated young man who seeks earnestly to work in God's way that his ministry may be owned of the Holy Spirit. I could see no fleshly methods in his ministry. As I attended his meetings in Los Angeles night after night he poured out, preaching, warning, exhorting, with great natural ability and with the power of the Holy Spirit. He is a man of prayer. He wants God and God alone to have all the glory.

In the Los Angeles campaign Billy had excellent helpers in Mr. and Mrs. Barrows and Beverly Shea and others. The Christian Business Men's Committee of Los Angeles stood by most faithfully all during the months of preparation, organizing hundreds of prayer meetings, fighting through all of the Satanic opposition. All working together they greatly rejoiced as they and I saw scores of people come up the aisles as the invitation was given night after night — some weeping and under great

conviction — all filed into the prayer room, seeking forgiveness for sins, becoming new creatures in Christ Jesus.

In Los Angeles a good many from the entertainment world were reached and some nationally-known figures were won for Christ. All sorts of people, old and young, rich and poor, filed up those aisles of sawdust after Billy had poured out heart and soul, warning of eternal separation if Christ is rejected but making plain the way to accept God's gift of eternal life.

Those were great, heart-warming days in Los Angeles! May a like harvest be reaped all over the country Billy Graham and others like him who humbly and sincerely preach Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. Charles E. Fuller, The Old Fashioned Revival Hour, Los Angeles, California.

Revival Visits Boston

GOD HAS broken through the crust of conservative, cultures, and intellectual Boston through the preaching of Billy Graham. Not since the revival days of Billy Sunday has anything happened in Boston comparable to this. Thousands have been converted and tens of thousands have heard the gospel preached in power.

For years many of us have labored, prayed and worked for God to send revival to this arid wilderness in theological things. Now God has answered our prayers and set the revival fires to burning.

Young Billy Graham came as the guest of Park Street Church to hold a church meeting, but immediately it was evident that God had come before him and prepared the way. The church proved too small on the second night, and the largest halls in Boston were used until in eighteen days 105,000 people had attended the meetings. There can be no explanation of this phenomenal movement outside of the supernatural. The glory must go to God not the evangelist (although he is definitely the human instrument used of God in these services), not to

the sponsoring church, not to the workers, not to the times, but only to God must be given the praise for this revival.

The universal impression among the Christians in this area is that America's revival is breaking, and we praise God that it has struck Boston in the early part of the great campaign. Harold J. Ockenga, Pastor, Park Street Church, Boston, Mass.

I Was There

I SAW 15,000 people present in the Boston Gardens the last night of the tremendous Billy Graham revival. I heard him preach on the steps where thousands stood endeavoring to get into the service. I saw and heard a great choir of 3,500 voices; the special music was beyond compare. I heard the Spirit anointed preacher explain the plan of salvation to the great throng. I saw his compassionate heart revealed as he stood in the breach, giving the invitation, pleading with people to turn to God. I saw 1500 people make professions of faith in one single service. I saw the personal workers and the ministers, who had charge of the revival work, in the inquiry room with these hundreds. It was the mightiest demonstration of spiritual power which these eyes of mine have ever beheld. I found myself praying that Dr. Billy Graham might be the host point to spearhead the great revival so sorely needed in America. A repetition of the Boston revival is the imperative need in all America today. C. Wade Freeman, Supt., Department of Evangelism, The Baptist General Convention of Texas.

We are grateful to Dr. Charles E. Fuller, Dr. Harold Ockenga, C. Wade Freeman, Dr. J. Edwin Orr, Mel Larson, Don Hoke, Jerry Beavan, and Cliff Barrows for their co-operation in making this story of REVIVAL IN OUR TIME possible. When so many eye-witnesses give the same account of revival fires breaking out across the country we must realize that this is God's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes. May those who read these lines pray earnestly for the individuals God is using as channels of blessing to thousands of souls.
